FAQs

We’ve tried to answer all of the usual questions we get however if there is anything we’ve missed, don’t hesitate to get in contact here.

Yes, ultrasound is considered safe. Extensive research over many years has shown that frequent ultrasound scans do not pose harm to either the mother or baby. We use the same high-quality Samsung machines found in local NHS hospitals, which are checked daily to ensure optimal and safe operation.

For clearer images during your early and gender scans, we recommend arriving with a comfortably full bladder. Drinking a pint of water about an hour before your scan can help. Wear loose-fitting clothes to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the process.

We are a family-friendly clinic and can comfortably accommodate up to five additional guests, including children. If you wish to bring more guests, please contact us in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Yes, we are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), ensuring that we meet high standards of care. You can find the link to our CQC registration here. Additionally, all our sonographers hold relevant postgraduate qualifications in obstetric ultrasound and continue to practise in local NHS hospitals.

All our sonographers are experienced in performing standard medical ultrasounds in the NHS, including the 12 and 20-week scans. Our scans begin with a thorough well-being check of your baby. In the rare event that we detect any issues, we will promptly contact the hospital providing your maternity care, make the necessary referrals, and send them a copy of the scan report.

No, private scans are supplementary and should not replace your NHS scan appointments. It’s important to attend all scheduled NHS scans as part of your routine maternity care.

Yes, bringing your pregnancy notes can be helpful for our sonographers. If you have them, please bring either a paper booklet or access them via an app, as they may provide useful information for the scan.

Yes, we do perform transvaginal scans when necessary. These scans provide higher-resolution images, which can be particularly useful for examining small structures in early pregnancy. If we’re unable to get clear images from an abdominal scan, we may offer a transvaginal ultrasound. The probe is slightly larger than a tampon and is covered with a condom and gel for comfort. This procedure is safe for both you and your baby. We will ask you to sign an additional consent form before proceeding.

We understand that plans can change. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please call or message us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, please note that your deposit will be forfeited.

To help achieve the best images during your 4D scan, staying well-hydrated is important as it increases the amount of fluid around the baby, which helps in capturing clear face shots. We recommend drinking an extra two glasses of water per day in the week leading up to your scan. Having a light sugary snack about an hour before your appointment can also help encourage the baby to move. Wear loose-fitting clothes to ensure you’re comfortable during the scan.

No, we do not charge extra for twins. We understand that expecting two babies can be a significant expense on its own, so we keep our pricing the same regardless of the number of babies.

We offer scans to anyone over the age of 16. If you are 16 or 17, please come with a responsible adult. We may also ask for identification to verify your age.

We strive to provide a 5-star Baby Bumps experience with every scan. If you are not satisfied with our service or have a complaint, please contact us directly. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to addressing any concerns promptly.
